WESTERN SAHRA
Western Sahara is a territory which is located in the northwest of the Continent of Africa and claimed by Morocco after it was abandoned by its colony country, Spain in 1975, and whose two-thirds is governed by it de facto today. This declaration of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic, which proclaimed its independence in 1976 over the whole region, is not accepted by Morocco. As the border neighboring countries of the territory, the Atlantic Ocean is located in the west of the territory while there is Morocco in the north, Algeria in the northeast, and Mauritania in the east and south.
According to the 2013 population estimates, 570.866 people live in the Western Sahara territory.
Its official language is Arabic and Spanish.
