SUDAN
Sudan, or officially the Republic of Sudan, is Africa’s third-largest country. Its capital city is Khartoum. Sudan, being an East African country, is surrounded by Egypt from the north, the Red Sea from the northeast, Ethiopia and Eritrea from the east, South Sudan from the south, the Republic of Central Africa and Chad from the west, and Libya from the northwest. The Nile divides Sudan into two as West and East Sudan. The White River and the Blue River merge near the Rafediye district of Khartoum. The Nile Valley, which plays an important role in its foreign relations culturally, socially, and economically, passes through the middle of Sudan.
In terms of population, it ranks 40th in the world with a population of 30.9 million.
Its official languages are English and Arabic.
